Gary S. purchased this 1971 Chevelle SS454 from a friend’s coworker after selling his 1968 GTO in 2014. It started life with Gary as an original factory triple black SS454 LS5 car with factory AC.
Several changes have been made to this 1971 Chevelle since Gary acquired it in 2014. The first order of business was reinstalling the interior, as it initially did not have any in place. Interior work was performed by Hinshaw Chevelle of Burlington, NC, and they even saved the original dash pad and 8 track player. High Point Body and Paint would take care of the exterior work and paint for the next stage of the restoration, while Automotive Service Shop performed the engine work and other repairs to the suspension system.
Gary chose to replace the original Quadrajet carburetor with a new 750 AED Holley unit along with an Edelbrock Performer intake system to match. The factory LS5 454 was stroked out to a 496 all roller motor and the points ignition has been eliminated in favor of an electronic ignition. An M22 Muncie 4 speed from AutoGear of Syracuse, NY takes the place of the factory automatic transmission. A Holley Sniper EFI system is in the works for the future.
I love driving this car especially after changing to a 4 speed. I am a member of the Triad Chevy Club and we go to a lot of car shows and cruise-ins.

A few personal touches include a Sony stereo system stealth mounted under the front seat, including new speakers and an amp & sub. On the outside, American Racing TorqueThrust wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich tires replace the factory SS wheels. This Chevelle is mildly modified but tastefully done.
