Patrick’s dream car is a first generation Monte Carlo. He recently bought this 1971 Monte Carlo after selling his previous one due to lack of funds to take on the project. Now, he has another chance to create his dream car.
He anticipated that this Monte would only need a repaint, but after driving it for a little while the scope creep began to set in. What kicked it off was the decision to change the color rather than simply repainting the original. Then the “while you’re in there’s” began to add up.
“I have always loved the First Gen Montes and having a car I have put so much work into and redoing on my own (with help of course from others) makes it very rewarding.”
Patrick
This 1971 Monte Carlo is a simple 350 small block with the 4 barrel carburetor mated to a TH350 transmission. While not the SS 454, it can certainly move out of its own way.
Patrick wants to show off the fruits of his labor at shows and other local car gatherings once the restoration is finally complete.
Update: currently the car is complete and was able to make the Chevrolet Nationals in June 2020. The drivetrain is next but the paint, body, and interior are done.
