Tom’s first nice car was this 1968 Chevelle. He actually bought it from the original owner back in 1970 and he’s held onto it ever since.
“This car is my first decent car and I remember being so excited when I bought it. I told everyone that I will keep this car forever. I’ve got a pretty good start on that.”
Tom
Seeing as how he was determined to keep this 1968 Chevelle, he hasn’t neglected the upkeep. Tom painted the Chevelle in 1990, which led to him refreshing and overhauling the original 327/275hp small block during the late 1990s. Over the past year he’s also rebuilt the original 4-speed Saginaw transmission.
Tom’s 1968 Chevelle retains a great deal of originality, including all of the floor and trunk pans. Interior retains the original carpet and rear seats, while the buckets have new upholstery and the headliner has sagged and been replaced.
Tom intends to keep driving it until he can’t any longer and would like to then give it to his son for posterity. Thankfully, he loves to take it for a spin whenever he visits. Between his son and 4 grandchildren, one of them will want to take over.
