Paul A’s 1968 Chevelle

Built From The Ground Up

Paul A’s 1968 Chevelle

Paul had this 1968 Chevelle since 1988 when he found it in a local classified ad for $3300.

After purchasing the Chevelle, he discovered that the big block 396/325 L35 and M21 Muncie that it came with were numbers matching to the car, an unexpected bonus for sure. He hadn’t done much to the Chevelle in these early days of ownership aside from a paint job, which he wasn’t entirely happy with.

Fast forward to the year 2014 when Paul was fortunate to meet Harry Bates of Restorations by Harry in Williamstown, NJ, who took on the task of a frame-off restoration on the 1968 Chevelle. Over the course of several years, Paul and Harry have essentially gone over the entire car with new parts from Ground Up to bring the Chevelle back to top form.

Since he was finally putting some TLC to the Chevelle and had a numbers matching drivetrain, Paul decided that his 1968 Chevelle deserved a new paint job, and what better than to return the car to the original color of Grecian Green.

“Grecian Green was the choice and Ground Up restorations was our source for everything from engine parts to interior and exterior parts. Thanks to all!”

Paul

With the restoration completed, Paul plans to continue to enjoy the car by taking it to various car shows in different states across the country. In fact, he was entered into the Chevelles in the Smokies show in Tennessee for the 2020 season, but due to the Covid pandemic he decided to back out to be safe. Perhaps things will be looking up for shows in the near future.

His favorite aspects of owning this 1968 Chevelle are the memories that he and his family have created over the years, as well as the connections he makes when showing the car at various events.

“I’ve had it since my kids were little and we have lots of fun memories that we’ve enjoyed. I like going to shows with it and hearing people say they had the same car 50 years ago when it was new.”

Paul

"I would recieved the parts in a timely manner. If I had any questions the staff at Ground Up were very knowledgeable about what they sell. All good!!"
