David purchased this 1965 El Camino from Craigslist in July 2019. It came to him mostly completed, but he has a few plans for it in the near future.
He would like to swap an LS in place of the 327 small block originally from a 1968 Camaro. A four wheel disc brake upgrade and updated wheels and tires are also part of the plan.
The El Camino’s current 327 is mostly still stock, with a small cam upgrade, roller tip rockers, and an Edelbrock carburetor and manifold combo.
Over the years, David’s owned over 125 different hot rods, muscle cars, and pickups ranging anywhere from the mid ‘60s to the mid ‘90s, and he hadn’t yet owned an El Camino. Since a good condition El Camino runs about half of the price of a nice Chevelle, it was a no-brainer for David. This example has also been freshly repainted in Light Aqua Teal just before he bought it.
“The color caught my eye right away. Every time I take it out I get thumbs up and comments on it. People especially like the color.”

He wanted one more nice car now that he is in his late 60s, and this 1965 El Camino was destined to be the one. It currently is awaiting the warmer weather of spring and summer as Washington winters are not kind.
