Dominic decided to treat himself to a 1969 Chevelle SS! He is a heavy collision autobody technician by trade for 35 years. For the past 12 years, he has been buying storage wars locker units full time, and during the covid lockdown, he did extremely well.
After months of searching, He finally purchased the 1969 Chevelle SS, and after going over the car for a month he found it had a lot of issues. He decided to do a frame-off restoration.
The car is not a number matching car but is a true SS and has a lot of its original parts. He has many photos as he has been taking them while working on his 1969 Chevelle SS. The motor is going to take 4 more months as there are no parts or are scarce so he has plenty of time to get everything done before the motor comes.
He just purchased the list below.
- Gen VI 454 600hp 4 bolt main turn-key crate motor.
- Eagle steel crankshaft
- Eagle I-beam connecting rods with ARP bolts
- Keith Black High-performance pistons
- Federal-Mogul
- Performance rod and main bearing
- Performance rings hand filed to match the application, Balanced rotating assembly
- Comp Cams custom roller performance camshaft
- Hydraulic Roller lifters
- Mechanical fuel pump
- Three-piece double roller timing set
- Edelbrock performance aluminum cylinder heads
- Manley chrome-moly pushrods
- 7/16 Screw-in studs and hardened guide plates
- Melling high volume oil pump and screen
- Edelbrock Air-Gap intake,
- 800 cfm Holley Ultra HP carburetor w/ electric choke.
He also purchased a 700R4 transmission from LEVEL 10, Pat Garret, in Hamburg, NJ. He was an awesome guy who did a professional job. Transmission has a high-pressure valve body, super pump, upgraded planetary, 2400 stall torque converter, heavy-duty input sprag, high energy clutch, hardened output shaft.
He also has a CURRIE 12 bolt Posi rear with 373 gears, 1350 Chromoly yoke, topped off with an LPW aluminum cover. Dominic also installed a complete QA1 coil-over suspension kit and a complete Wilwood braking system.
What’s Special to him is he has redone every inch of this car and so far has approx. 600 hours invested. He takes a lot of pride in what he is doing and when he’s done with this car it will look showroom ready.
Dominic is on the fence about painting the car the original color which is code 72 orange. Or he has been thinking strongly about a one-of-a-kind marvel comic book airbrushed paint job. He has some really great ideas on how to incorporate all the marvel characters throughout the body of the car. He would love to bring it to comic con in New York next year.
