Scott is pleased to introduce Misty to us all. Misty, a 1970 Chevelle, came into his life when he was a junior in college. She waited for him as he went off to college.
Misty the 1970 Chevelle has been restored to varying degrees several times. The car has been a true constant in his life. Thirty-two years later, he still gets excited every time he pulls off the cover and goes for a cruise.
Misty is a matching number L34 396 – 350 Horsepower. A rebuild of Chevelle was done by him and his father in 2014. Matching number M20 wide-ratio Muncie 4-Speed (also rebuilt in 2014) and last an original 3.31 Posi rear end.
If you look at the trim tag, Misty should have come with a cloth bench seat interior. However, as you can see, she has a vinyl beach seat interior. The interior has always looked original. When he had to replace the seat covers (due to mice, unfortunately). He found a build sheet from another car not far down the assembly line. The only thing he can figure is at the Atlanta plant they switched the seats at some point.
He plans to enjoy Misty and cruise with her. He takes her to shows, register (the registration fee usually goes to a good cause), clean her up, walks around and look at the other cars, talk to a few people and then leave. It used to bother him that Misty rarely got recognized by the judges. But she is a GREEN Plain Jane 1970 Chevelle SS396. Not anything special. However, she’s special to him, and that’s all that matters.
He is currently restoring the original AO wheels (a correct set is currently on her). Then he plans to get a set of Coker Radial Wide Oval Tires for her.
