Steven C’s 1972 Nova

Built From The Ground Up

Steven C’s 1972 Nova

Steven found the 1972 Nova in Harrisburg, Pa in December of 1999.
The car was in need of restoration but had many parts with it. He decided to buy the car since it was a V8 with a 4 speed.

He did find out some of the history of the car from the previous owner’s friends. Unfortunately, the history of the 1972 Nova is a sad one. The owner had committed suicide with the car by having the motor running in his enclosed garage. Even with the news, he did proceed to start the restoration. The car was bad, the only good panels were the roof and trunk. His friends and hot rod guys couldn’t believe doing a Nova instead of Camaro or Chevelle.

Well, the car was finished in 2003. At that time there were very few or no Novas in the local shows. It was great his Hot rod buddies were asking him about a trade for their Camaro or Chevelle. The Nova is going on 22 years with him. His Daughter and son-in-law will someday be the owners of the 1972 Nova.

The motor 355 with Edlebrock RPM performance package was offered in 2003. The transmission is Muncie 20 with Hurst comp shifter. The rear is a 12 bolt Eaton from a 1970 Nova.

He wants to coin the 1972 Nova a rudder here in Jacksonville as one of the best in the city. As all old cars go he will continue to upgrade with 2 ” dropped spindles Wilwood brakes new traction bars frame extenders.

"I continue to upgrade the current parts in stalled back in 2002 and 2003 would venture to say at least 90 percent was bought from Ground Up. over the years. "
