Jason C’s 1977 Camaro

Built From The Ground Up

Jason C’s 1977 Camaro

Jason found this 1977 Camaro on Facebook Market place. When he saw how much the price was for it, he thought it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

It was posted for $1,500, and he talked him down to $1,400. But now that he thinks about it, he could have talked him down to $1,000 if he knew anything about cars. The 1977 Camaro wasn’t able to start when he got it, but at that moment he didn’t really care.

After he paid for it, he had it towed to his uncle’s house so they could work on bringing it back to life. They had to cut a lot of rust out and replaced it with new metal. They had to knock out the passenger side quarter panel because it was dented in. All the previous owner did was put a HUGE chunk of Bond-O on it.

His 1977 Camaro has a Chevy 350 Crate engine with a Carter AFB Carburetor. On the back of the engine is a T350 transmission. Jason and his uncle believe there are internal modifications to the engine, but they don’t know for certain. He put new front and back brakes on her, gas tank, fuel pump, fuel lines, slave cylinder, and brake cylinder. He also rebuilt the Carburetor, that was fun.

The Camaro used to be a race car, and the previous owners used it on dirt tracks. He doesn’t know if it was a winning vehicle or not but that is something he is going to try to look into in the future.

In the future, he intends to give the 1977 Camaro a good retirement. There’s still a lot of work that needs to be done, from new body panels, and interior. The Camaro will be fully restored to showroom beauty. But for right now it is all about getting her up and running.

"My experience was great. I'm really surprised that Ground Up actually had what I needed. Thanks a bunch."
