William’s first car was a 1971 Camaro, and back in 2008, he was on eBay just looking at Camaros for sale. He wasn’t looking to buy one but saw this 1972 Camaro, and it was far from what it is today.
It was pale yellow, the doors were off the car, had no windows or drivetrain but the rear. For some reason, he had to have it. Even though he was in PA and the Camaro was in Georgia. So he purchased it. To put it mildly, built 350 with an m21 behind it, and he’s upgrading the rear from 3/08 gears to 3/73’s.
The 1972 Camaro sat under a car cover and tarps until 3 years ago. He was going through a bad emotional time in his life and decided to work on the car to keep him busy. He couldn’t put up a garage or even a carport, so to get around the township he bought a 10 x 20 canopy and got started.
It ended up with all new panels, including a roof skin, the floor was good but he put a trunk floor in it, and the frame was good. This is a new car but for a few things, brake and fuel lines, ball joints, body mounts. He did everything to this car himself as far as even rebuilding the engine and tranny. So the 1972 Camaro saved him and got him past those bad times, having it to work on it. It kept him busy! Now once he gets a few more things for it, it will be done. As you can see in the pics he doesn’t have some of the moldings on it yet.
He’s not planning any events with the 1972 Camaro but just take it out for a drive on the weekends, it only gets about 7 mpg, so with the prices today it doesn’t go far.
