Josh C’s 1968 Camaro

Built From The Ground Up

Josh C’s 1968 Camaro

Josh’s dad bought this 1968 Camaro in 1975 as his first car and drove it until 1979 when it was wrecked and put away. As a kid, Josh only remembers hearing stories about the 1968 Camaro and seeing the hood in the back of his grandparent’s garage. Josh’s dad always said that he wanted to build it together, but he joined the Army in 2008 and moved to various states and countries only to never move back to his hometown. Fast forward to October 2014 Josh’s dad passed away and in 2015 Josh was able to secure the 1968 Camaro and start the restoration. It went from Michigan to Minnesota on numerous trips since not all of the parts were in one place.

The top end of the motor is original to the car, and it has a period correct block. It has a 383 stroker motor, Holley Sniper EFI, Holley Hyperspark ignition, and an SST Tremec TKO-600 transmission.

Josh was able to track the car down to the 2nd owner who confirmed it as a real Z/28, and it had an M22 with 4.56 rear gears. Being a real Z/28, it is one of 7199 produced in 1968.

Josh usually attends Street Machine Nationals in St. Paul, MN. He is looking to add vintage air and Dakota Digital gauges to make it more drivable.

"My experience with SS396.com was good. Shipping on in stock parts was quick. "
