Doug has a 1967 Camaro Convertible that he built from parts from Groundup/SS386 when they were in Long Island. Also, from parts from their booth at the Englishtown NJ swap meet. Years and years later the kids came. His wife wouldn’t allow them in the 1967 Camaro because it was a convertible and didn’t have 3-point belts in the back. So, what did Doug do? He bought these 67 hardtops. Of course, the first thing was installing Morris Classic three-point belts in the rear. So, he can thank his kids for having this 1967 Camaro.
The car has an LS2 out of a Corvette and a T56 6 speed out of a Camaro.
Doug thinks the outstanding features of this car are how it is built to drive. The car has a comfortable interior with nice modern seats and Vintage Air. Makes short or long rides really enjoyable. The suspension has been updated with a Corvette C5 suspension in the front and Ridetech 4 link in the rear. The Car runs Corvette C5 brakes all around. Steering is easy with the rack and pinion setup. The car drives like a modern car so smooth and easy on turns and bumps.
Doug always says the car is done but that is never the case. He has a Procharger to install which he hopes to do over the winter. Also, the carpet and mats are from the convertible and are really old and worn so they need to be replaced over the winter. Outside of that he just wants to drive the car as much as he can. Doug hopes to get to the Adirondack Nationals this year if he can make it. He has never been there and has always wanted to go.
