John R’s 1972 El Camino

Built From The Ground Up

John R’s 1972 El Camino

John purchased this El Camino about 3 years ago. The car was a total mess, but that was the exact model that he always wanted.

John started doing some work on the El Camino, but the more he did, the more things he noticed that needed to be done. So he decided to park the car and do a total restoration.

The engine is a 383 from Blueprint Performance with a Holley EFI.
John wanted an overdrive transmission and the easiest way to go was a 200R4 from Gearstar transmission. He also installed a new positraction, new bearings, 4:11 gears, a new set of axles, and disc brakes.

The thing that John likes the most, is that his El Camino is a real SS. It also came with some good options like factory A/C, power steering, front disc brakes, and a 12-bolt rear end with a sway bar.

John says he is pretty much all done with his El Camino. He just needs to do some final tuning on the suspension, and he’d like to add some QA1 coilovers and tune the Holley EFI a little further.

"Shopping on SS396 website is really easy. Great customer service too."
