Art found this 1972 Chevelle SS in need of a refresh in the corner of a local car show in August 2014. Art has a soft spot for 1972 Chevelles, as his parents had bought a Malibu in ’72 and he also used to own a ’72 Chevelle SS in high school. Nostalgia quickly took hold of Art and he scooped up this tired SS in a hurry.
Art set to performing a factory restoration on his new Chevelle, attempting to keep the car as original as he could. During this restoration, he found the factory build sheet stuffed above the gas tank, proving this car is a true original SS!
He has deviated slightly from factory stock with his engine, which is now a balanced and blueprinted 383 stroker pushing roughly 500 hp. The Chevelle retains its original Muncie M20 4 speed transmission, however.
He completed the factory restoration just in time for the Adirondack Nationals in Lake George, NY for the August 2018 show, almost exactly 4 years after he found it neglected at that local car show.
For now, Art plans on cruising the car show circuit and reminiscing about the good old days with his fellow car enthusiasts.
