This 1969 Chevelle Yenko tribute was purchased by Bob a few years ago in 2014 as a partially finished restoration by a private party that wanted to move on to a different build.
“Being a fan of the late Don Yenko and seeing the work done the purchase was a no brainer.”
Bob
The body and interior had essentially been completed by the previous owners. The body and frame were both sand blasted, while the frame was powder coated and the body received LeMans Blue paint. The interior is equipped with bucket seats, center console, and the SS dash.
Being a Yenko tribute, it needs the grunt to back up the appearance mods. This 1969 Chevelle has a tuned up 454 big block with hydraulic roller & Comp cam. Gears are selected through the TH400 automatic with a 2500 RPM stall.
Braking and handling have also been sorted by Bob since he acquired the Chevelle. Hotchkis suspension components reinforce the chassis and help to eliminate the floaty feeling that a car of this era would have from the factory. Stopping power is dramatically increased by the addition of a full four wheel power disc brake conversion kit.
Perhaps in the future Bob may swap in an overdrive transmission, but for the time being he plans to hit more cruises and shows.
