David purchased this Nova with a relative who passed. It was first intended to be a tinker project for the two of them. His relative passed, and then it became a much more involved process for David.
Under the hood, it has a 5.3 “LS” with ported/polished heads, Texas Speed cam, and hardware, forged H-beam rods, Mahle flat top pistons, trunion valvetrain upgrade, SVO injectors, LS6 intake, and a Sniper throttle body. The transmission is a reverse pattern TH400, with a 3000 stall. It doesn’t stop there, it has mini-tubs, a narrowed 9” rear, narrowed front suspension, TCI torque arm suspension, coil overs all around, and Wilwood disc brakes. Inside there is Vintage Air, a homemade console, a Rockford 500-watt sound system with a double DIN head unit, and new smoked glass. It was a full rotisserie build, that David built and painted himself in his garage at home. Minus the rear, upholstery, and the engine machining, he did all the work.
People are always asking him what color it is (The color is a custom mix) and how he got the stance, but he isn’t letting the secret out yet. There are so many small details that he added, pretty much in every area of the build too. All of the exterior trim, and a lot of the interior trim, among other parts, were supplied by SS396.com. It recently won 1968-74 Nova of the Year at the Bowtie Nationals in Bristol TN.
Future plans are for a one-off leather interior. David is also planning to compete next year at GM Invasion in Bristol TN. 1/8 mile drag racing, autocross, and the car show. The car will be shown at Holley LS Fest East as well. David says he always wanted to build a car from the “ground up” and have it published. He’s had several classics, but never built one to this degree!
