Derek B’s 1970 El Camino

Built From The Ground Up

Derek B’s 1970 El Camino

When he was on his way home across the country from California in 2003, Derek received a call about a rust free 1970 El Camino for sale. Luckily, he had his empty trailer with him on the trip so he was easily able to acquire it.

He would spend his spare time working on the El Camino when he wasn’t already taking on jobs for others, but that was perfectly fine as he could wait. He repainted the El Camino and powder coated many of the individual parts. Eventually, after 5 years the frame-off restoration was completed.

This 1970 El Camino has the original 350/300hp small block and 4 speed transmission. Other bonuses include factory air conditioning and power windows. He says he has no intentions of daily driving this one.

Derek’s favorite part about this particular El Camino involves the amount of time he spent bringing the time, effort, and attention to detail towards parts that won’t ever be seen after assembly. He knows that they’re there, and that’s what counts.
