Derek’s uncle bought his 1965 Chevelle about 20 years ago. After having it for around 12 years he sold it to Derek’s father. Derek finally convinced his father to sell it to him so he could fix it up in 2019. That same year Derek’s uncle, that had the car first, passed away from cancer. So, it started off as a project and ended up being more sentimental and having more meaning than when he first got the car.
Derek has a 383 stroker built by west coast engines with a 700r4 transmission that was built by a man named Tony Storr in his garage in northern California.
This was his first time building a car. So, it was a good learning experience. Derek learned a lot about what to do and not do on his next project.
He just wants to rework some of the stuff to clean it up under the hood and make the engine bay look better. He hasn’t done anything like this before so once it was done and looking at other builds gave him some ideas on how to clean it up and make it look more presentable.
