This ex-drag 1970 Chevelle was purchased from a restoration shop a few years ago by Doug, after the previous owner had bailed on the restoration and sold it to the shop instead.
It has taken three and a half years, but the full frame off restoration has been completed recently. This Chevelle currently has a numbers correct 396 big block and has been converted back to an M20 Muncie 4-speed from automatic.
The big block has been rebuilt and has a balanced rotating assembly to 1 gram. Doug has also chosen to utilize Keith Black pistons and 215 casting oval port heads. This combination results in 10:1 compression ratio with the LS6 camshaft, ultimately making 410 horsepower with 450 lb/ft of torque.
“(The) Best year for the Chevelle in my opinion and a icon of the Muscle car era.”
Doug
Doug’s very happy with his finished project and will continue to drive and show the car.
