Edward bought this 1970 Chevelle from a dealer way back in 1971 after graduating high school but had to sell shortly after in 1976 to pay for his wedding reception. He kept the original sales receipt over the years.
That sales slip was important as it had the VIN number to Edward’s old 1970 Chevelle. That information allowed his 28 year old son to track the car down without Ed’s knowledge to surprise him on his 62nd birthday. Ed’s son teamed up with the rest of the family and Ed’s friends in order to restore it in time for the celebration.
What Edward received was his original 1970 Chevelle SS454, but with a slight twist from what he remembered about it. His son had converted it back to stock from a full drag car that the previous owner had created, complete with a rollbar and a full spool rear end. Ed’s son also repainted the Chevelle and performed the body work.
Edward enjoys the time spent with his old car, cruising and bringing it to shows. He will eventually hand it down to his son when he can’t drive it any longer.
