Greg bought this 1969 Chevelle at a car show as a project it was in primer. He needed a car that his wife could drive with their 2 kids and 2 foster kids.
With bench seats, they could get 4 kids with 2 car seats and 2 adults in. She was driving a 1981 Camaro at that time. She drove this daily with the kids for a couple of years. The 1969 Chevelle was an original 327 4brl with a Powerglide 2 speed and 12 bolt rear end. This was in the late 1980s.
He completed a restoration on the 1969 Chevelle around 2000. Completed paint, partial interior, and updated the drive train.
The engine is a 372cu (400 with 350 crankshaft) forged crank, Keith Black Hypertec 10:1 pistons, and World Products 194 heads. Edelbrock RPM air gap intake, Herbert cams hydraulic roller, Edelbrock roller rockers, Holley 3310 carb, and Hooker Headers.
Swapped out the Powerglide transmission for a 700R4 w/2800 lockup stall converter. Updated the brakes with a front disc with 2″ drop spindles and coil-over shocks.
The Chevelle originally is a malibu, when he repainted it he went with the SS stripe and hood but added no emblems and left off the malibu emblems. He built the car with the intention of it being a nice daily driver. He left the bench seat and column shift, and added the gauge package with tach, tilt wheel with comfort sport steering wheel. Also added Vintage Air AC (The car is now at his home in Arizona).
He is still planning on a gear change with a new positraction. And possible upgrade to a Fuel Injection system.
