Ground Up’s 1966 Chevelle Convertible Resto-mod
Ground Up’s 1966 Chevelle Convertible Resto-mod – fully restored from the Ground Up in 2015 – SOLD in 2016
Ground Up’s original 1966 Chevelle Malibu 327 power glide underwent a full frame-off restoration in 2015. Ground Up wanted to transform this Chevelle into a retro-mod monster. SSR Restorations performed the bodywork and paint for the car while Nick and his crew at Unique Performance completed the driveline and the final assembly. This is where they turned this Sunday driver into a road-crushing beast.
The restoration features a Rhino Dipped frame, UMI Mega Stage 4 Handling Kit, TRS Big Brake Signature Series 4-wheel disc brake system, a monster big block open chamber LS7 motor, Performance Automatic 4L60 transmission, and a GM 4:11 Posi rear end. The restoration didn’t stop here though. The interior received a TMI custom Sport XR interior and a complete Thunder Road Custom Dash kit. The exterior also got a bit of an upgrade with Dakota Digitalis exterior lighting system and Hi-Intensity T3 Headlamps to really make this classic resto-mod stand out from the rest.
