James had been looking for a 1966 Chevelle for many years, and found this triple black 1966 Chevelle 396 Supersport frame off tribute car on eBay that was in West Virginia.
His other one is an original Marina Blue 138 396 Chevelle Supersport car from Oklahoma that needed a frame on restoration. The car sat inside a different garage in the 90s for over 10 years after getting a gorgeous 1st ever base coat clear coat marina blue paint job. Then being delivered to me not finished other than the paint job.
At least they did put it back together as far as putting the windows, the fenders, doors, and trunk back on it before returning it to him 10 years later. It was on a flatbed truck because he had threatened to get a lawyer if they didn’t at least do that for me. Then it sat in his garage for 39 years. Long story short the blue 1966 Chevelle is in a shop now being finished.
He found and bought a 396 502 Hp motor for it because it had the wrong motor in it. It had a 283 that needed to be rebuilt and wasn’t the correct motor for it anyway. They have made some slight modifications, and he has bought several parts from Ground Up SS396.com and he should hopefully have it back sometime in May or early June…
It has an original-looking 4-speed shifter and Muncie transmission
knee knocker tachometer. He doesn’t plan on doing anything else to the car as the 1966 Chevelle looks great the way it is now. It does have the older Cragar style wheels.
