Jeremy was driving down a local road and saw a car sitting behind someone’s house. He asked if it was for sale and was delighted to hear that it was. The guy said to make him an offer so Jeremy proposed $3,500 and bought the 1968 Chevelle. He wasn’t quite sure what he was going to do with it, but he knew it was worth it.
The 1968 Chevelle is a Super Sport numbers matching car with just under 19k original miles. The car sat in a trailer since 1973. It has two coats of paint since new, but otherwise untouched. All original clamps, plugs, belts…everything! However, someone stole the ‘68 buckets, which were Buick seats, during the 90’s.
Jeremy actually ended up selling the car for $10k fifteen years ago. Recently, he bumped into the guy he sold it to and asked what he was doing with it. The buyer stated that he wasn’t doing anything with the Chevelle and asked if Jeremy wanted to buy it back. So, that’s exactly what Jeremy decided to do.
The car is sporting an early 70’s Corvette burnt orange paint with gold metal flake. It also has some cobwebbed black on the hood scoops. Jeremy is in the progress of a complete mechanical replacement, involving an engine/transmission rebuild. He plans to drive the car with its 70’s retro paint rather than fully restoring to the original white.
The engine is a 396/325 HP. Currently, it’s being rebuilt to sticker except for the camshaft. Other modifications include the tachometer and the ‘68 Buick GS interior.
Jeremey’s future plans for his ‘68 Chevelle include driving it, burnouts, and attending some shows just for fun!
