Jesus bought his 1967 Chevelle Malibu in the summer of 1980. Jesus first saw the 1967 Chevelle going by an intersection, his jaw dropped when he first saw it. He asked around until he found the owner of the 1967 Chevelle, at first the owner didn’t want to sell it. After a week went by, he called Jesus and said he would sell the 1967 Chevelle, but the transmission was locked. This car over the years has become a part of Jesus, he went to high school in it, he picked up his first and second born from the hospital, he worked on this car with his father, and even took his mom to Rochester, NY and Niagara Falls in it. Jesus has gone and cruised all over MA, CT, RI, and NY. He remembers cruising the Berlin Turn Pike, Misquamicut Beach, Main St, and US envelope in Spfld.
In 1984 Jesus’s 1967 Chevelle was stolen from “The Big E”. After a week of searching every tow yard, the 1967 Chevelle finally was found. After this, Jesus lost interest, so he put the car away in 2000 he pulled the body off the frame cleaned, sanded, and coated the frame and also replaced the trunk and body mounts, and put her away again. In 2008 he moved to Florida, got married, bought a house, and in 2010 sent for the car.
Finally, in 2015 Jesus began working on the car. He completely took it apart; it was a Shell. He sent it out for bodywork and paint then got it back in April of 2016. Every spare minute since then he has been “in his happy place” (the garage) working away on it. Now, Jesus is cruising FL and in the first show, he got 1st place, 2nd the show he got best in the show. It’s been a long journey filled with ups and downs and he has to thank his wife, Marisol, for all her support. She put up with him through every Xmas and birthday asking for parts. Most weekends Jesus was in his happy place with his son Macho whom he picked up in this car when he was born, now he drives it. Macho is always there to help out his dad (now that you’re here) lol, if Jesus had the chance to do it all over again, he would! The memories he has with this car and the ones to come are priceless.
The original 327 is still in it completely rebuilt and balanced with a polished Edelbrock intake, AVS 2 carb, a lumpy cam, Hooker headers, Champion radiator, MSD 6AL, wires, and billet distributor. The M21 was rebuilt, Hays 11 1/2 street/strip clutch and pressure plate, and a Hurst super shifter 3 (his dad bought him in 1980). The original 8.2 10 bolt was rebuilt now with 336 posi. Suspension is Hotchkis, Moog and 2 inches dropped CPP spindles. The interior is stock, gauges auto meter, and a classic Sun tach. Wheels are Rocket 18-inch Boosters, tires Nitto NT555 G2.
Jesus likes the fact that it’s a 327 with the camel hump heads / 4 barrel / 4speed car from the factory.
Jesus plans on adding 4-wheel disc brakes, A/C, and tubular control arms.
