Joe B’s had this 1966 Chevelle since 1983, when he purchased it off his friend who kept what he wanted and let the rest go.
This 1966 Chevelle does not have the original engine or transmission, but Joe has used the opportunity to install a variety of running gear over the years.
Though he always goes with small blocks (currently running a 350ci), he’s had a 4 speed, TH350, and currently a TH700R4 selecting the gears. The original 10 bolt rear end has been swapped to a 12 bolt posi-traction unit with 3.42 gears. Joe’s also installed power steering, power disc brakes, and a quick ratio steering box, all welcome additions.
Joe put this Chevelle through the paces during his ownership. It was his main mode of transportation for 17 years, and he’s taken it to Florida and New York from his home in St. Louis, MO. It has since been given a break from daily duty, and he only takes it out on nice days for his enjoyment.
There isn’t much left to do to this Chevelle, it has had a second repaint along with new wheels and tires during Joe’s ownership, and he plans to upgrade to an Ididit steering column and a factory AC dash in the near future.
“I’ve owned it a long time and its pleasant to drive and can keep up with today’s traffic.”
