John K’s had this 1973 Chevelle since 1989, when he purchased it for his first car after getting his driver’s license.
This was one of the only cars that were on the used car lot that he could afford at the time, but it was a clean and rust free example with 42,634 miles on the odometer. It even still had the original “granny” hubcaps.
“I went to the bank and got the money I had been saving up and bought the car. I didn’t know I was buying a piece of automotive history.”
John
After about a year of using it as a daily driver, John parked it in the garage and began working on it as the Chevelle had grown on him tremendously. John’s been working on it for the following 30 years non stop to keep it in top shape, even having it repainted at one point even though it wasn’t completely necessary.
This 1973 Chevelle Malibu SS350 is equipped with the standard 350 small block paired to the venerable TH350 transmission.
He’s attempted to keep everything as original as possible over the years, but as we know the market for the 1973 Chevelle and up hasn’t quite taken off yet. Money is no object at this point for John to keep it original, and even 30 years after he first bought it, this Chevelle now only has 61,500 miles.
“As of today, I have been working on it for over 30 years and am one of the few people who can say they still own their first car. It now has only 61,500 on the odometer. I think the photos speak for themselves.”
