John Morris, the current owner, found this 1969 L34 396/350hp Chevelle SS through Southern Motors in Michigan. He quickly secured the car. He also received a wealth of documentation.
John connected with previous owners too, including Larry S. who still had the car’s original parts, and was a great asset. John met with Larry to collect these treasures and share stories. Larry even had the original AM radio and an 8-track player! This fulfilled John’s restoration dreams. John’s Chevelle is on its way back to its former glory!
As mentioned, along with the car came a large folder full of documentation. Registrations, receipts, loan papers, window stickers, and the Protect-O-Plate. All the owners of the car throughout the years were identified in that pile of documentation. The car spent its entire childhood in the Cullman AL area.
After some time scouring Facebook, John started to find the original owners! Finding Larry S first, he called him up and had a nice conversation only to find out that after Larry restored the car, he saved all the original parts he removed! John was on a business trip to KY so on the way home he made a detour to pick up the parts he needed to restore the car back to its original condition. He spent a few hours getting to know Larry and seeing all the treasures he had in his shop as well.
While talking about some of the other owners John had spoken to overtime on the phone, he mentioned how Jimmy had regretted getting rid of the 8-track player and how he wished it wasn’t swapped out for an aftermarket unit. Larry paused and said, “You’re in luck, I have the original right here! You want it?” John went back to NC with a nice load of original 1969 Chevelle SS parts to begin the restoration process. The car will slowly be taken back to its original condition as time allows
