Lonny R’s 1970 El Camino

Built From The Ground Up

Lonny R’s 1970 El Camino

This 1970 El Camino is a legitimate SS car owned by Lonny R since 2013.

Lonny’s placed a great deal of time and effort into getting this 1970 El Camino just right with a variety of upgrades. He’s gone the route of a resto-mod with a fuel injection system, a conversion to serpentine belts, and a full Dakota Digital dash.

The suspension, brakes, and transmission have all been rebuilt as well. The factory radiator and fan/clutch have been swapped in favor of an aluminum radiator and electric fans, which help keep the El Camino’s temps down when spirited driving or at a track day.

The factory 396, really 402, big block breathes through a set of Hooker headers and exhaust as well. Eventually he plans on putting together a Magna Flow exhaust to complete the system.

Perhaps the best aspect of the El Camino is the custom paint job that Lonny did himself. He spent the prior 3 years of his restoration project prepping the El Camino to perfection as he had never attempted anything like this previously, and he certainly didn’t want to ruin his first paint job.

The end result is a Medium Sapphire Blue Metallic with Arctic Frost Pearl SS stripes.
