The search was on, Lou was looking for a correct 1970 Chevelle SS for a while when he found this car, a Triple Forest Green 1970 Chevelle SS in Maryland and bought it in July 2019.
He’s the 3rd owner, the car has 41,900 miles, it is a Baltimore plant car and has been inspected by Jerry MacNeish. There were 51,437 CHEVELLES L34 made in the 70’s. Lou’s is number 11,199.
His 1970 Chevelle has been inspected and certified by Camaro High Performance. According to the database and historical Chevrolet records, this car is an original L34. Chevelle 396/350 V8 with factory installed 3 speed automatic 12 bolt rear and posi traction.
The car had a body-off restoration with pictures, so Lou restored and replaced all parts that were not right with NOS parts, hardware included. The car is a triple forest green Chevelle SS with cowl induction and working PS, Pb, cold A/C, front power disc brakes, AM/FM radio as stock correct, bias 14-inch tires and mags, column shift, and bench seat, which in the day most wanted buckets.
It’s a 396/350, 4 barrel quadrajet, 3 speed automatic, 12 bolt rear 3.11, all numbers matching. The Chevelle SS trim tag build sheet, engine, transmission, rear axle, have all been certified to be real and authentic. Lou finished the car in November 2019.
All the cars that Lou restores are special to him, but this one being a 1970 Chevelle is extra special. 1970 is the year he went to basic training for the army, never knowing what was next, for life was on the back burner and any car was nonexistent for him.
