Mark’s beautiful 1972 Chevelle LS5 454 convertible was purchased from his brother, who owned a similar model shortly after graduating college, and has remained with him ever since for very good reasons.
This 1972 convertible is special to both Mark and the larger classic muscle car community as a whole due to its exceptional documentation and rarity. Of all the 454 LS5 equipped Chevelles built for 1972, only 31 convertible 454 LS5 models have been confirmed with only 70 believed to have ever been built.
This example is a numbers matching original Muncie M22 4-speed car with a build sheet and protect-o-plate. Mark had even been able to track down the original owner, who not only had photos of the car but became a good friend as well!
Needless to say, this 1972 Chevelle convertible has been meticulously maintained over the years by Mark. It had gone in for a fresh coat of paint in 1994 and received a complete engine and transmission rebuild in 2004. He says the car is probably ready for another paint job soon, but it still looks and shows well. A testament to its quality condition, it recently took second place at the Eyes On Design Concours in Detroit, MI.
