This 1969 El Camino has been with Mike B since 1994, when he picked it up as a project to share with his son in high school. The pair had started work on the El Camino project, but Mike’s son enlisted in the Marine Corps shortly after school, so it was put on a brief hold.
However, his son’s return home coincided with Hurricane Katrina, and the El Camino was once again sidelined for the time being. In the years since, this 1969 El Camino was completely reworked as a restomod to their specifications.
When Mike retired two years ago, the father/son duo decided to pull the motor and transmission in favor of a 383 Stroker crate motor with a TH700R4 transmission.
“It’s an El Camino, business up front, party in the rear”
Mike B.
The pair take this ’69 Camino restomod down to Mississippi every year for Cruise the Coast, and they intend to keep enjoying it as a family. Eventually, the El Camino will make its way to Mike’s grandson, who is a gearhead like his father and grandfather before him.
