Mike D. had a 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 and due to financial reasons, he sold it, but later found a 1969 Chevelle body and a chassis and decided to build his first car. It was a twelve-year build that kept Mike busy from 2009-2021.
Mike’s 1969 Chevelle had an LS 6.0 /4l80e engine that is dressed to look like a big block Chevy. He chose the 4l80e because it’s a good, strong transmission. It has a 12-bolt rear with 3.55 gears, EZ EFI and EZ TCU control fuel and shifting with four-wheel disc brakes. The interior has Procar bucket seats, Dakota Digital gauges, seven speakers for great sound and Dynamat everywhere.
The 1969 Chevelle has an adjustable splined front sway bar, an adjustable rear sway bar, and UMI suspension pieces. It has frame bracing and the entire frame is boxed, Bilstein System, and Fat Man Fabrications 2” drop spindles. It has 17×8 front & 18×9.5 rear Boss 338 wheels with Nitto NT 555 tires 245/45 in the front & 275/40 in the rear.
The body of the 69 Chevelle was originally Cortez Silver, but since there wasn’t much to start with, he decided to make it his own.
The 1969 Chevelle has a Malibu trim, so Mike kept it the same, he didn’t want to make another SS clone. So, he gave it an RS badge on the grille and made what could’ve been a Malibu with a rally sport package.
Mike figured he would get the bigger engine, AC, 4-wheel disc and he painted it a Corvette color called; Laguna Blue. He went to Adirondack Nationals a couple of times in Lake George. Eventually, he would like to take it to a track.
Mike said that he is happy about the move to Florida, he said “You’re close by, your parts are great quality, and if I need to return something, you make the process easy”.
