When Raul needed a practical vehicle he could still have fun with, he went to the dealer and bought this 1985 El Camino off the showroom floor.
At the time, Raul was in construction management so he needed something versatile. This brand new 1985 El Camino fit the bill pretty well. He’s held onto it and put it to use ever since he bought it brand new.
It has had its fair share of wear and tear over the years, but whenever something needed replacement, Raul took care of it. The 305 small block engine was pulled and replaced way back in 1992, and the whole pickup was repainted in 1996. He has ensured that no rust, dings, or dents have appeared over the years, so the body is clean and straight.
“My favorite part of owning my Elke is driving down the road going back in time and getting many compliments from both young and old.”
Raul
He is currently restoring the interior of the 1985 El Camino, with plans to tackle the exterior chrome moldings afterwards. Once those are out of the way, he intends to continue to enjoy the El Camino as he has been for the past 35 years. This is not a garage queen, but a true driven workhorse, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.
“This car has been a love of mine since the day I bought it. Whenever I’m working on it, it brings back so many good memories.”
