Rob’s brother Victor and his cousin Kenny were in Vietnam together and when they got home they both set out to get ’69 Camaro’s, and they both did.
His brother ended up with an orange Camaro Z28 and Kenny purchased a black Camaro SS, both around 1974. Rolling the clock forward to 2016, Rob ended up purchasing Kenny’s car. It was still black with a 406” SBC and a Muncie 4-speed manual. He always wanted an automatic, so Rob swapped in a 200-4R. The car was coming along nicely.
Then in 2022, the car was parked right outside his garage when an electrical fire that burned down his garage severely damaged the Camaro. Fortunately, he had insurance and built the car back to where it is today.
The Camaro has a dart block 406 with AFR heads, Comp cam, FiTech fuel injection, long tube headers, and full exhaust. The transmission is a Car Care Automotive built 200-4R with lock up and is built to stand about 600 foot-pounds of torque.
When Rob rebuilt the car, he wanted to go with a theme. He’s from New Orleans, so he painted the car New Orleans Saints colors and named her Maggy, after the Louisiana state flower the magnolia.
The only current plans Rob has for the car is to install air conditioning and enjoy it!
