Ron bought this 1970 Chevelle just after high school in 1985 and he sold it in 2001, for a boat so his kids could ski and tube. 16 years later when he turned 50 his wife and sons found the car and bought it back without Ron knowing.
It was black cherry with white stripes when he sold it, and the new owner repainted it red with black stripes. When Ron got it back he tore it all the way down and had it re-painted black cherry like it was when he sold it. Which ended up being a 4 year project. Most of the new parts came from SS396.com/Ground Up Motors.
The original 396 was pulled and is wrapped on a stand so it doesn’t get hurt. Because Ron planned on beefing the power up quite a bit. It was replaced with a new Dart Big M 555 with nitrous. The transmission is a turbo 400 with a reverse shift pattern and a 10″ 3500 stall . It’s also got a Strange 4:10 rear gear, Wilwood disc brakes all around, and a roll cage.
March 1st thru 3rd the Chevelle was entered in the 2024 Detroit Autorama and took 1st place. Ron plans on going to local cruises and shows with it too. He also will at some point take it to a drag strip to see what it can do. Enjoy your Chevelle Ron!
