Scott has wanted an El Camino since he was in high school. He just happened to have enough money to buy this one. So, instead of paying some bills and rent he purchased the El Camino. A diamond in the rough, but he loves it.
Scott bought it with a 5.7 out of a ’94 or ’95 Suburban. The previous owner had swapped on a generic high rise and a quadrajet carburetor set up. Since then, he has changed the manifolds to 3/4″ headers and added a 3 inch exhaust all the way to the tail pipes. For not doing much to it, Scott thinks it sounds awesome, and has plenty of power for now . Down the road he would love to do a 427 or 454 swap in his El Camino.
Scott doesn’t think his El Camino is anything rare or special. But when he finishes it, his goal is to have every possible option. But some are going to be invented by him, and won’t be factory . Scott wants it a little more modern too. It is going to be a long time job, he knows that. But, it is going to be fun he says.
