While surfing through craigslist ads, Stephen had come across this 1966 Chevelle. After he had made the purchase, he got to work on creating a track monster.
Deep in the heart of this 1966 Chevelle, you will find a 454 big block with an aluminum intake. It was put together like a drag car. The car was going so fast in the 90’s that according to NHRA rules Stephen had to modify the roll cage. At which time, Stephen decided to move the engine back a few inches and tub out the rear end. It to his best friend and welder/body man to work on.
While he’d been working for large car dealers for 35 years he gathered all the NOS parts needed for the body. His buddy had the welding under control for the interior and roll cage. While he was also going to do the bodywork and paint on the 1966 Chevelle, or so he thought.
Over the years, he paid him in access of $20k for the modifications, bodywork, and paint. He kept asking for it back for years. But he dismantled the car, and never put it back together. Meanwhile, Stephen had a stroke at work and had to leave the car parts business for good.
He wanted to focus on the beloved 1966 Chevelle now that he had time for it. After asking his friend for the past 8 years to give him the car back, he finally went to his place to pick it up. All he had left was the chassis, which was parked outside his shop for who knows how long.
Now old, and disassembled. Stephen’s 1966 Chevelle is currently sitting in his shop. He has partially assembled it a little at a time from the parts he still has at home. He guesses it was wishful thinking that his ex-friend, would eventually do what he paid him for.
He lied for many years about where the car was at, and what he was doing to it. Stephan goes out to the shop and visits the 1966 Chevelle occasionally putting a part on it.
Stephen faces devastation and such a loss. But he is determined to see this car together again
