This 1969 Chevelle’s been in Steve G’s family for about 40 years at this point and it isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, except cruising.
Steve began the frame off restoration about 18 years ago in 2002, addressing pretty much everything that is possible over that time span. He took the opportunity to retire the numbers matching 396/375 L78 big block and replace it with a 383 stroker.
This stroker has been worked to produce 454 horsepower with 474 pound feet of torque, so nothing was lost when removing the big block except for the extra weight! It still runs the power through a TH400 but this automatic has been upgraded with a shift kit to keep the momentum up.
