Steve R. picked up this “super clean and laser straight” restored 1965 Chevelle Malibu SS early in the summer of 2019 from a man in Orlando, FL. He’s been hitting the car shows and getting thumbs up driving around ever since.
The previous owner had already stripped the Chevelle Malibu down, removed the rust, and repainted in the original Regal Red. The interior also received the full treatment, being brought back to factory specifications. The only area of this Chevelle Malibu that isn’t factory specification is the wheels and drivetrain.
Originally equipped with the 283ci small block V8, it has since been exchanged for a crate 350 small block and TH350 transmission combination. Supporting modifications include an Edelbrock 650 CFM carburetor and Hooker long tube headers.
This car is special to me because it has been just about completely restored back to factory specifications with the exception of the power plant. This Chevelle Malibu SS gets lots of thumbs up on the road and I enjoy sharing it with spectators at car shows.
Steve
While Steve is content enjoying his Chevelle as it is now, he does have plans to eventually upgrade to a big block 396 and a TH700R4 overdrive transmission. And of course, one thing you can’t live without in Texas is air conditioning, so he would like to install a Vintage Air system as well.
