In 2014 Thomas had found this 1970 Chevelle listed for sale online at a nearby car dealership. There were many other classic muscle cars listed on the lot, but this is the one that spoke to him.
It is an original, numbers matching L34 SS car, coming equipped with the L34 396/350hp power plant and a 4 speed M21 Muncie transmission. Since his purchase, Thomas has had the engine and transmission both pulled and rebuilt. The Muncie was sent off to a specialty transmission shop that exclusively worked on these 4 speeds.
Aside from the rebuild/refresh of the engine, the big block was kept mostly in stock form. Thomas opted to pick up a set of Hooker’s Competition Headers and Flowmaster mufflers to help it breathe a little easier and sound a little meaner.
Oshawa, Ontario is where this Chevelle was built, so Thomas has much documentation about the car as it were built from the factory. This Canadian plant operated a little differently than the U.S counterparts and is the only plant to have retained these sort of records over time.
This 1970 Chevelle is a rather rare color, Gobi Beige, with black SS striping and black interior. Work has been done on some of the interior, such as new front bucket seats and headliner to name a few items.
