Vin picked up this 1972 Chevelle a few years ago as a Father’s Day present to himself. He’s had three ’67 Chevelles in the past and he wanted another one but was interested in the styling of the ’72 model this time around.
The previous owner couldn’t keep the Chevelle as they had just welcomed a newborn, and Vin was there to pick up the pieces of their restoration. The process was started shortly before they sold the Chevelle, so Vin had his work cut out for him. The old vinyl top held water, so the entire rear section was rusted through and in need of replacement.
Vin began by replacing the quarter panels and the trunk floor and worked his way forward. Most of the major repairs have been completed, such as the sheet metal work, interior, new vinyl top, and even engine work, but he says he still has plenty left to do.
“The fact that I can do whatever I want to it is exciting to me.”

He opted to go for a resto-mod with this 1972 Chevelle, rather than go the traditional route of a factory correct restoration. It currently has a 350 small block paired to a TH350 transmission, but he has plans to pick up a 383 stroker and a better transmission down the line.
